Mother Nature is the artist. I just collect the memories…

…These are a few of my favorite things…

Hit the road tonight with a couple friends, hoping to find snakes and maybe even a thunderstorm.  We found a few dead snakes, one live one, and several very photogenic moments.  So I hope you enjoy the photos!

Doe Creeping

Doe on Point

These two doe and another were intently watching a couple that was walking their dog several hundred yards away.  They didn’t even see us pull up in a truck above them and take pictures…

This Great Basin Gophersnake is the only live snake we saw.  He was fairly big…about 4 1/2′ long, and he had a bit of an attitude…which just means he posed well and put on a show.  Lots of huffin’ and puffin’ from this guy and even a couple half-hearted attempts to bite my legs.

Field and Mountain1

We saw this Lupine field just before sunset really kicked in.  It was a very pleasant surprise, to say the least.

But once the sunset REALLY kicked in…

Stormy Sunset1

Stormy Sunset2

I saw this breathtaking storm over the White Mountains in the rear view mirror, and asked John to pull over.  I knew we wouldn’t have time to get the tripods out or even change lenses, so we winged it.  I shot these handheld at ISO 400, I think, while standing on the running board of the truck.  I still think they came out OK.  This was one of the most spectacular sunsets I’ve ever seen…

Thanks for coming along!
