Another Cloudy Day

We had another fantastic day for clouds here in the Eastern Sierra.  Storms were dropping rain on the upper elevations and mountain peaks all afternoon, and clouds were dispersing, moving, and regrouping across the valley floor, with interspersed bright blue patches of sky.  This is the perfect recipe for some Black and White Cloud Formations…

All of these were shot in monotone, using a no. 25 Red Filter for contrast, and stacked 2stop soft Graduated Neutral Density filters for the sky.

There’s just something about standing at the base of these mountains, watching the rain come down, and being perfectly dry as the clouds break up overhead, and reform to the east.  I love living in the desert…

Thanks for taking the time to look!!

Nice cloud formations. I’m impatiently waiting for fall to arrive down here in Santa Barbara. There have been too many days of fog or plain blue skies.
