Snowstorm in the Valley

It doesn’t happen very often, but every once in a while, we get a really nice dumping of snow in Bishop.  We had some really big, wet flakes coming down for several hours during the evening.  A really good storm…

Of course, with accumulation like this, I was holding my breath for this morning to have some really nice snow.  I wasn’t disappointed…

John and I went out to Round Valley, and shot Mt. Tom and The Wheeler Crest, and then we shot up Pine Creek Canyon…

It really was a spectacular morning.  Wasn’t all that cold, either.  Just a really nice day to get out and shoot.  Thanks for coming along!

  1. Wow, those are all really beautiful. How much snow DOES Bishop get in the winter? Hope to be up that way for pics either Christmas or new years weekend–haven’t been there since mid-October for fall color pics, and I need a fix. 😉

  3. Quick question, please (since you’re a local)–do you know what the roads are like heading into the Sierras right now from Bishop, for example, 168? Are there any they keep plowed back pretty far, or will we be stuck at Aspendell or similar mid-altitude spots? Thanks!

    • Right now you can get back past Aspendell, but once we get a couple more storms, that will change. *Most* back roads that get any elevation get snowed in over the winter…even the north end of June Lake Loop…
